Job summary

St. Elizabeth HealthCare is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant to provide clinical support to physicians and APPs in the Florence Ophthalmology SEP department.

You will collect medical history, perform initial exam steps, and conduct ancillary testing, while ensuring HIPAA and OSHA compliance and accurate patient documentation. The role supports patient flow, triage, and clerical tasks, including specimen collection, charting, and patient instructions.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma/G.E.D.
• Knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
• 1 year MA, CNA, PCA, STNA, or SEH Clinical Care Tech experience or MA program completion

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and document vital signs in charts
• Administer basic nursing procedures under provider supervision
• Prepare the patient for exams and assist during examinations
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic tests
• Ensure HIPAA/OSHA compliance and patient chart accuracy
• Maintain supplies and clean/sterilize exam rooms and equipment
• Support revenue cycle tasks and patient communications
