Job summary

Prism Vision Group’s NJRetina location in Edison, NJ is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant for an onsite role. The position supports physicians by performing tests and documenting results, with occasional travel to other locations as needed.

Responsibilities include reviewing charts, taking history, recording visual acuity, conducting OCT, visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry, and assisting with patient education while maintaining EMR documentation and ensuring patient flow.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Graduate or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• OA1 Experience: 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience.
• OAII Experience: 2+ years ophthalmic assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient charts to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
• Takes ocular and systemic history and records visual acuity.
• Performs testing (OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry, biometry).
• Performs lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exam with tonometry and anterior chamber assessment.
• Acts as scribe entering data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Assists with consent, education, and patient flow; maintains room cleanliness.
