Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
• 0–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience; 2+ years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Take ocular and systemic history and record visual acuity.
• Perform tests such as OCT, automated visual fields, photography, pachymetry and biometry as scheduled.
• Conduct slit lamp exams including tonometry and anterior chamber assessment.
• Act as scribe and document findings in EMR or paper charts.
• Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
• Support office procedures and obtain informed consent.
• Educate patients and manage patient flow and room cleanliness.
