Job summary

Prism Vision Group is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant for The Glaucoma Center in Bowie, MD. This onsite, non-exempt role conducts measurements and tests to support the physician in diagnosing and planning treatment.

The incumbent documents accurately in accordance with standards and provides excellent patient services while assisting with education and patient flow throughout the day.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor’s preferred.
• 0-2 years ophthalmic assistant experience
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Record ocular history and visual acuity.
• Perform tests including OCT, automated visual fields, pachymetry and biometry.
• Assist with lensometry, refractometry, slit lamp exams and tonometry.
• Scribe data into EMR or paper charts.
• Administer topical or oral medications.
• Support informed consent and patient education.
• Manage patient flow and maintain exam rooms.
