• Less than one year of previous job-related experience.
• Hands-on experience in manual refraction and applanation tonometry.
• Preferred: at least one year of experience.
• After graduation, become certified ophthalmic assistants within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive patient care including specialized ophthalmic testing, triage and patient teaching.
• Perform basic and routine eye examination procedures to assist in diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.
• Explain diagnostic and treatment procedures to patients.
