Under the direct supervision of the department supervisor, the Ophthalmic Assistant plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive ophthalmic care. Responsible for assisting the physician in gathering patient data and maintaining a conducive clinical environment, the Ophthalmic Assistant performs tasks such as visual acuity testing, visual field testing, lensometry, auto refractometry, pupil assessment, extraocular motility, external examination, applanation tonometry, tonopen, eye drop instillation, diagnostic testing, and participating in patient care. Additionally, the technician maintains patient medical records, ensuring efficient workflow. The role includes employer-sponsored training and continuing education with the goal of becoming certified by JCAHPO as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant within 24 months of hire.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Full Time, No Nights or Weekends
