Job summary

TelCom Construction, LLC is seeking a Telecom Drill Bores Operator in Des Moines, IA to operate drill equipment for underground telecom cables.

You will determine bore paths, locate utilities, maintain schedules, and handle site setup and equipment maintenance, while working in all weather conditions and performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
• Valid state driver’s license (not Provisional) with acceptable driving record
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain it
• Experience with drilling equipment, including capabilities, limitations, and drill setup/design processes

Responsibilities

• Determine bore path and locate utilities
• Safely operate and control all necessary equipment to complete tasks
• Verify existing utilities by potholing to determine bore path
• Develop and maintain a bore schedule
• Responsible for site setup, clean-up, and equipment maintenance
• Perform work in all weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll do

• Determine bore path and locate utilities
• Safely operate and control all necessary equipment to complete assigned tasks
• Verify existing utilities by potholing to determine bore path
• Develop and maintain a bore schedule
• Responsible for site set‑up, clean‑up, and equipment maintenance
• Perform work in all weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level, in confined space and remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
