Job summary

STAR CONSTRUCTION, LLC is seeking a Telecom Drill Bores Operator in Opelika, AL to operate drill equipment for installing underground telecommunications cables and infrastructure. The role is hourly and field-based, requiring attention to bore paths, utility verification, and equipment maintenance.

You will work in all weather conditions, maintain bore schedules, and perform site setup and cleanup. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States for this company.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain it.
• Experience with drilling equipment, bore path, and setup processes.

Responsibilities

• Determine bore path and locate utilities.
• Safely operate and control drilling equipment to complete tasks.
• Verify existing utilities by potholing to determine bore path.
• Develop and maintain a bore schedule.
• Responsible for site setup, cleanup, and equipment maintenance.
• Perform work in all weather conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll do

• Determine bore path and locate utilities
• Safely operate and control all necessary equipment to complete assigned tasks
• Verify existing utilities by potholing to determine bore path
• Develop and maintain a bore schedule
• Responsible for site set-up, clean-up, and equipment maintenance

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid state driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Valid Class A Commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain it
• Experience with drilling equipment, including their capabilities, limitations, and drill setup and design processes

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level, in confined space and remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
