Job Summary

The primary responsibility is to drive concrete mixer trucks to work sites and discharge loads. This includes operating in various conditions, including uneven ground, and may require unloading and attaching extension chutes weighing thirty to fifty pounds to the primary chute. The role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the ready-mix truck used for delivery of products related to the Company’s ready-mix concrete operations.

Job Responsibilities

1. Safely drive trucks to and from destinations, applying knowledge of DOT driving regulations and area roads.
2. Check loads to ensure product is hauled safely and appropriately, making adjustments as needed.
3. Estimate concrete slump.
4. Distinguish between proper mixes and those that are too rocky or too sandy.
5. Identify color differences between mixes.
6. Verify delivery directions with plant personnel to ensure correct delivery.
7. Strive to meet customer expectations and achieve high customer satisfaction survey results.
8. Develop strong relationships with customers to maximize opportunities and address needs.
9. Maintain equipment cleanliness using approved cleaning materials.
10. Maintain a neat personal appearance, including shirts tucked in.
11. Maintain radio contact with supervisor/dispatch for instructions.
12. Assist other employees as needed.
13. Complete pre- and post-trip inspections of truck and equipment.
14. Perform roadside repairs if necessary.
15. Maintain knowledge of city traffic routes.
16. Follow instructions from supervisors and management.
17. Promote teamwork with coworkers and customers.
18. Adhere to all safety and regulatory standards.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL A or B).
2. Ability to read, write, and speak English.
3. Acceptable CSA score and MVR; no recent DUI/DWI or excessive violations.
4. High school diploma preferred; bilingual skills are a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Basic arithmetic skills including addition and subtraction.
• Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations.

Working Conditions

• Exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and outdoor environments.
• Required to wear protective equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing.
• Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
• Regular communication and safety awareness around heavy equipment.
• Ability to pass DOT physical including back x-ray, hearing test, and drug/alcohol screening.
