General Description

An Asphalt Plant Operator is a skilled hourly-rated craft position that performs various duties on construction projects, adapting to different tasks as work flow dictates.

Key Duties

• Operate plant and load trucks
• Ensure all safety policies are followed
• Collaborate with Quality Control to produce quality mix
• Assist in ordering materials and managing stockpiles
• Maintain paperwork and communicate with road crews
• Assist with plant maintenance and operate loader as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of the site
• Work nights and weekends as required
• Read manuals and directives, adjust to heights, perform basic math calculations, and use basic computer skills
• Welding and electrical/electronics skills are a plus
• Perform incidental duties within other crafts

Qualification Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of industry experience as an Asphalt Plant Operator
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift 50-90 pounds personally (up to 150 with assistance), and climb on heavy equipment
• Alertness to multiple activities on-site and ability to hear and understand alarms and instructions

Work Environment

• Outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Exposure to noise, grease, dust, and heavy equipment
• Handling substances like oil, grease, fuels, and concrete
