R10068261 Plant Operator (Cylinder Filler) (Open)

Location: Davenport, IA - Filling industrial

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Cylinder Filler will be responsible for safely handling and filling gas products into liquid, medical, and high-pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as following Airgas's standard operating procedures.

In particular, you will:

  • Inspect cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures required by government, Airgas, and distributor standards. Conduct safety checks such as odor tests, checking caps and valves. Analyze products for purity and correct mixtures.
  • Handle high-pressure, medical, and liquid cylinders. Prepare high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling. Attach to manifold, evacuate cylinders to eliminate contaminants. Fill cylinders by pressure and weight, adhering to regulations and standards.
  • Assist with loading and unloading cylinders on and off pallets and tractor trailers. Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Manage paperwork to comply with DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards. Complete quality control sheets as required.
  • Understand hazards associated with various gases; read and interpret cylinder labels and color-coding. Label cylinders accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Are you a MATCH?

  • HS Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience in manufacturing operations, filling, or loading preferred.
  • Strong background in gas, welding, safety supply, or chemical industry preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform basic math operations and understand units of measure.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
