Job summary

CMC is hiring at its facilities in the United States for production roles in steel and related industries. You’ll participate in safety programs, work a rotating shift, and support equipment operation and routine maintenance. Training is provided to help you grow with the company.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn, adapt and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Participate in safety programs and uphold safety culture.
• Communicate production issues and needs clearly.
• Complete daily equipment inspection reports per shift.
• Perform minor routine maintenance without extra help.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area daily.
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
• Assist in electrode exchange with furnace operators.
• Assist in tapping heat and adding alloys for de-oxidation.
• Visually inspect furnace for leaks and wear.

What You'll Do

• Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture
• Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
• Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnel
• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures for the EAF and Caster
• Assist Utility Operator and Assistant Furnace Operator with the exchanging of electrodes
• Assist in tapping the heat from the furnace including making alloy additions to de-oxidize the heat
• Visually inspect furnace for problems (water leaks, refractory wear, and heel control)

What You'll Need

• Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
• Basic computer skills
• Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
• Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Some overtime will be required
• Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
