Job summary

CMC is hiring in Durant, Oklahoma to join our team in the steel production environment. You will participate in safety programs, communicate issues, and support operations across melt shop equipment and processes.

The role requires teamwork, the ability to multitask, and lifting up to 50 lbs, with rotating shifts and overtime as needed. We value reliable attendance and willingness to learn in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, dust fumes, and loud noise.
  • Basic computer skills and dependability in attendance and work completion.
  • Flexibility to meet business needs and willingness to multitask.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and be able to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and uphold the CMC Safety Culture.
  • Effectively communicate production issues, concerns, and needs to the team.
  • Ensure daily equipment inspection reports are completed each shift.
  • Perform daily housekeeping in the work area.
  • Troubleshoot problems using knowledge and collaboration with others.
  • Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
  • Work with operation staff to monitor and run melt shop equipment.
  • Coordinate with Ladle crane operator to place ladle for tapping.
  • Monitor steel temperature using temperature probes in tundish.

What You'll Do
  • Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture

  • Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
  • Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
  • Work with personnel in the operation, monitoring, and performance of all melt shop equipment (caster, furnace, cranes, ladle furnace, etc.)
  • Communicate with Ladle crane operator and Ladleman to coordinate timely placement of ladle to tapping fork
  • Use temperature probes to monitor steel temperature in tundish
What You'll Need
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
  • Basic computer skills
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Some overtime will be required
  • Work on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidays
Your Education
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
