Job summary

Conagra Brands is seeking an Operator Mechanic for the night shift (10:00 PM–8:00 AM) in Council Bluffs, IA. The role focuses on startup readiness, visual inspections, and light repairs to ensure GMP and quality standards are met. Must have own hand tools and basic math skills.

Responsibilities include assisting mechanics with PM, completing centerline inspections, and maintaining a safe production area. Strong safety record and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs are required.

• Grease seals and bearings, clean, inspect and replace belts.

Shift: 10:00 PM-8:00 AM

Hourly Rate: $26.39 an hour

The Operator Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for a variety of responsibilities including ensuring assigned equipment is ready for startup/changeovers. Visually inspect equipment to ensure operation according to standards making adjustments. Complete centerline inspections and may assist mechanics with minor repairs, replacements, and modifications to equipment following all safety regulations and ensuring all GMP and quality standards are met. Must have own hand tools.

• Work the scheduled/assigned times and required overtime for position
• Regular attendance to ensure production requirements are met
• Read, write, communicate, and comprehend written instructions in English
• Complete work/purchase requests into the maintenance tracking and performance computer system
• Knowledge of planned maintenance
• Knowledge of basic hand tools
• Basic math skills
• Good safety record and complete all necessary trainings.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

You will:

• Verify product for startup
• Ensure equipment is ready for startup/changeovers performing pre-start checks
• Visually inspect equipment to ensure it is operating according to standards making adjustments
• Complete centerline inspections to identify defects
• Grease seals and bearings, clean, inspect, and replace belts
• Assist mechanics with minor repairs, replacements, and modifications to equipment
• Assist mechanics with Planned Maintenance (PM)
• Teardown equipment for changeover/sanitation
• Complete daily paperwork (e.g., centerline reports, scale audits, PM/AM sheets)
• Keep work area free from debris to maintain a safe and efficient production process
• Participate in production line drumbeats
• General housekeeping (e.g., sweeping, wiping down guards, removal of contaminants, etc.)

You have:

• Knowledge of GMP's
• Be LOTO certified

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year maintenance or related experience.
