Job summary

Conagra Brands in Council Bluffs, IA is hiring an Operator Mechanic for night shifts. The role ensures equipment is ready for startup, performs pre-start checks, and conducts visual inspections to maintain standards.

You will assist mechanics with minor repairs, support Planned Maintenance, and complete daily paperwork in a fast-paced food production environment. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of maintenance experience, GMP knowledge, and the ability to lift

Qualifications

• Must have English reading, writing and comprehension for instructions.
• Knowledge of GMPs and safety regulations is required.
• LOTO certification is required.
• Basic math and measurement skills are needed.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform manual tasks.

Responsibilities

• Verify product for startup.
• Ensure equipment is ready for startup/changeovers with pre-start checks.
• Visually inspect equipment and adjust as needed to meet standards.
• Perform centerline inspections and identify defects.
• Grease seals/bearings, clean, inspect and replace belts.
• Assist mechanics with minor repairs and PM activities.
• Teardown equipment for changeover and sanitation.
• Complete daily paperwork and maintain PM/AM sheets.
• Keep work area clean and safe for production.
• Participate in production line drumbeats and housekeeping.

Job description

Shift: 10:00 PM-8:00 AM Hourly Rate: $26.39 an hour

The Operator Mechanic reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for a variety of responsibilities including ensuring assigned equipment is ready for startup/changeovers. Visually inspect equipment to ensure operation according to standards making adjustments. Complete centerline inspections and may assist mechanics with minor repairs, replacements, and modifications to equipment following all safety regulations and ensuring all GMP and quality standards are met. Must have own hand tools. Work the scheduled/assigned times and required overtime for position Regular attendance to ensure production requirements are met Read, write, communicate, and comprehend written instructions in English Complete work/purchase requests into the maintenance tracking and performance computer system Knowledge of planned maintenance Knowledge of basic hand tools Basic math skills Good safety record and complete all necessary trainings. Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.

You will:

• Verify product for startup

• Grease seals and bearings, clean, inspect, and replace belts
• Assist mechanics with minor repairs, replacements, and modifications to equipment
• Assist mechanics with Planned Maintenance (PM)
• Teardown equipment for changeover/sanitation
• Complete daily paperwork (e.g., centerline reports, scale audits, PM/AM sheets)
• Keep work area free from debris to maintain a safe and efficient production process
• Participate in production line drumbeats
• General housekeeping (e.g., sweeping, wiping down guards, removal of contaminants, etc.)

You have:

• Knowledge of GMP's
• Be LOTO certified

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year maintenance or related experience.
