Job summary

JBT Marel in Memphis, TN is seeking an entry-level Grinder Operator to grind and smooth surfaces of manufactured parts prior to finishing operations. This role requires good communication and teamwork to support the organization.

Responsibilities include inspecting surfaces, selecting appropriate abrasive tools, operating grinders, and polishing to a flawless finish. You will replace worn components, assist with forklift operations (certification required), and perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Entry-level role requiring good communication and teamwork.
• Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines (KPI).
• Comfort with ERP systems and computer literacy.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Must pass physical capacity and drug screen.

• Selects grade of abrasive belt, wheel, or disk according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives and condition of metal and attaches to grinder.


• Starts grinder and moves it over surface of part to remove scratches, rust and burrs.


• Polishes ground area with finer abrasive to produce a smooth, unmarred surface.


• Replaces worn abrasive disks, wheels and belts.


• Operate lift truck with certification.


• Other duties assigned due to the need of the business.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

• Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to loud noises, machinery with moving parts.


• Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50lbs occasionally.
