Job summary

The City of Somerville seeks an Operations & Systems Project Assistant to support the CAO with policy analysis, data tasks, and project documentation. The role emphasizes drafting administrative orders, SharePoint repositories, and cross‑department coordination to improve processes.

Ideal candidates will have graduate study in public administration or policy, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail in a public sector

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a graduate program focused on Public Administration, Public Policy, or related area.
• Bachelor’s degree with 1–3 years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Excellent project management, writing and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with department leadership to document policies, processes and SOPs.
• Develop and manage information repositories using SharePoint.
• Evaluate systems and draft instructions for use; synthesize data for recommendations.
• Draft administrative orders and provide general administrative support (data entry, document management).
• Communicate findings to diverse audiences and assist in policy research.
