Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for anOperations Support Specialist 2 (Document Control) opportunity in Los Alamos, NM, to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Work Location: On-Site at LANL (TA-16)

Group/Organization: WFO-OS

Schedule: 9/80s or 5/8s

Summary:

The Operations Support Specialistinvolves regular collaboration with facility personnel, participation in facility and area walkdowns, support for assessments, and coordination of readiness activities with operational and programmatic customers. The specialist also develops and maintains documentation that supports operational readiness, clear communication, and effective execution.

Duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to:
  • Build productive working relationships with facility, programming, and operational personnel.
  • Coordinate project activities, schedules, deliverables, and action tracking across multiple organizations.
  • Participate in facility and area walkdowns to understand operating conditions and identify ready-made needs.
  • Support assessments and help evaluate whether operational requirements have been effectively implemented.
  • Serve as a central coordination point for facility and programmatic customers.
  • Gather information from subject-matter experts and convert operational needs into practical plans, communications, procedures, and other controlled documents.
  • Research and apply effective practices in operational readiness, process improvement, and procedure development.
  • Help ensure work products meet applicable DOE and LANL requirements.
  • Communicate WFO activities and needs through written, verbal, and visual media projects under dynamic conditions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s and minimum 5 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated experience supporting work in an operational, technical, regulated, or compliance-driven environment.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge and experience in coordinating activities, schedules, assessments, or action tracking across multiple stakeholders.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge and experience in participating in or supporting facility walkdowns, workplace observations, assessments, or similar field-based activities.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge and experience to understand and apply organizational policies, procedures, and institutional requirements.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and customer-service skills, including the ability to build productive working relationships across different organizations and levels of responsibility.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly to different audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze technical or operational information and convert it into clear, accurate, and usable work products.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Technical writing experience in an operational, technical, regulated, or compliance-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and implement DOE Orders and LANL Procedures pertinent to nuclear facility operations
  • Intermediate-level knowledge and experience with working and updating project schedules.
  • Intermediate-level knowledge and experience with LANL business systems (Oracle, UTrain, PDMLink, etc.).
  • Intermediate-level knowledge and experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma
