Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking an Operations Supervisor - Paint to lead a crew of painters on overhaul, repair and new construction contracts, ensuring safety, quality and schedule adherence. Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of coatings experience in a relevant setting.
• AMPP Coating Inspection Program Level 1+ or NAVSEA NBPI certification.
• Available for all shifts and able to travel as needed.
• Must meet one EB experience or supervisor background requirement.

Responsibilities

• Manage a crew of Painters on Overhaul/Repair and New Construction Contracts.
• Assign and measure daily production goals utilizing OWL.
• Provide technical instruction, mentoring and motivation to the crew.
• Support Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Continuous Improvement goals.
• Interact with various levels of employees and demonstrate leadership.

Overview

The successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly representative employees. Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsible to manage a crew of Painters on Overhaul/Repair and New Construction Contracts
• Must have the ability to assign and measure daily production goals utilizing OWL
• Must provide technical expertise, instruct, mentor, and motivate the crew
• Support Department goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule, and Continuous Improvement Must be available to work all shifts and travel as required

Qualifications

Required

• High School diploma or GED
• 2+ years of coatings experience
• Must be able to successfully complete AMPP Coating Inspection Program Level 1 or higher, or have NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspection (NBPI) certification
• Available for all shifts
• Must meet one of the following:
  • Minimum of 1 year related Electric Boat experience
  • Minimum of 3 year combined relevant experience and supervisor experience in a high-volume setting
  • Minimum of 1 year EB experience and an Engineering degree in a related field

Preferred

• Previous trade/military management or leadership experience
• 3+ years of coatings experience
• Apprentice graduate, or EB OJT / WL experience
• Ability to read and interpret Paint Schedules and Maintenance Standards
