Job summary

Interport is seeking an Operations Supervisor in Newark, NJ to lead the Modification Shop, supervise staff, and ensure quality and safety across projects. The role coordinates production schedules, maintains a safe environment, and supports the Senior Director of Production with various operational needs.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in container modification or metalworking, 2+ years in supervision, and hands-on steel fabrication experience, with proficiency in NetSuite and Microsoft

Qualifications

• GED or high school diploma required.
• 5+ years in container modification or metalworking.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience in production/manufacturing.
• Proficient in steel fabrication (cutting, welding, burning, plasma).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors/indoors.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shop and yard personnel, schedule work, and track timekeeping.
• Oversee modification work, spray paint booth, and facility maintenance.
• Ensure quality control and safety compliance in projects.
• Operate and oversee use of lift equipment in shop and spray booth.
• Procure and manage tools, materials, and supplies for modifications.
• Coordinate with Operations and Sales/Yard staff on equipment control and service.
• Assist in estimating labor, materials, and timelines from proposals/drawings.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies with Senior Director of Production.
• Participate in safety programs and follow workplace policies.
• Support special projects and additional responsibilities as needed.
