Job summary

Jobtailor in Roanoke, VA is seeking an experienced Plasma Center Supervisor to act as leader in the absence of the Center Manager and oversee donor operations on assigned shifts.

You will supervise staff, coordinate scheduling, ensure SOP adherence, and drive donor throughput while maintaining safety and quality in a highly regulated medical environment. This role requires certifications in phlebotomy and donor center operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certified as Phlebotomist, Donor Center Technician, Plasma Processor, and Designated Trainer.
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Typically requires 6 years of related experience performing phlebotomy, donor processing, and plasma processing duties.
  • Demonstrated proficiency handling difficult situations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as acting leader in the absence of the Center Manager when assigned
  • Perform any or all tasks within the plasma center, including production employee duties and donor-flow supervision
  • Oversee donor operations and supervise Operations Supervisors and donor center staff during assigned shifts
  • Coordinate staffing, task assignments, break schedules, and coaching
  • Create employee schedules to accommodate donor cycles
  • Determine and adjust inventory levels for goods and supplies
  • Compile and submit vendor orders
  • Keep the Center Manager informed of irregularities and provide action plans to correct deficiencies
  • Execute daily operational plans to achieve donor throughput, quality, and productivity targets
  • Partner with the Center Manager and Quality team to resolve deviations and operational concerns in real time
  • Monitor donor flow and address delays or service issues
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, cGMP, and company procedures
  • Supervise donor selection, plasma collection, and manufacturing records
  • Attend required training sessions and staff meetings
  • Ensure accurate and thorough documentation
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and equipment condition under Center Manager guidance
  • Submit timely and accurate reports
  • Assist with control of center donor funds
  • Participate in onboarding, training, and cross-training staff
  • Maintain communication with other service areas for accurate documentation and quality
  • Promote safety, teamwork, and accountability
  • Report unsafe situations or conditions
  • May be trained to repair plasma center equipment
  • Assist the Center Manager with tasks supporting company objectives

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certified as a Phlebotomist, Donor Center Technician, Plasma Processor, and Designated Trainer
  • CPR Certified
  • Typically requires 6 years of related experience performing phlebotomy, donor processing, and plasma processing duties
  • Demonstrated proficiency handling difficult situations
  • Proficient in speaking and writing English, with legible handwriting
  • Bilingual skills where applicable
  • Ability to understand, explain, and follow SOPs and protocols
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to meet business needs
  • Ability to work in a highly regulated, operations-intensive, high-volume medical business
  • Ability to prioritize donor and employee safety and plasma quality
  • Exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and extreme cold below 32°F
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to stand 4–6 hours per day and sit 1–2 hours per day
  • Ability to bend, twist, squat, crouch, reach, and perform frequent hand and foot movements
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Correctable near and far vision requirements
  • Ability to communicate and understand spoken and written information
  • Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
  • Ability to perform varied tasks under changing conditions
  • Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
