Job summary

MSI in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an Operations Supervisor to lead shift leads, train staff, and ensure staffing and equipment to complete daily workloads efficiently.

You will oversee 25–50 team members across multiple shifts, drive continuous improvement, maintain safety, and ensure on-time shipping and inventory health.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Logistics or Operations Management.
• Minimum five years of supervisory or management experience.
• Five plus years of Distribution Center operations experience.
• Experience supervising teams of 15+ employees.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
• Experience in natural stone, tile, or hard flooring preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure shifts and functions are properly staffed for ~25 employees.
• Develop, maintain, and manage facility quality processes.
• Ensure on-time shipping by coordinating with supervisors and managers.
• Manage daily, weekly, and monthly quality and productivity reporting.
• Supervise facility realignment activities to maximize efficiency.
• Oversee DC layout and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide direct supervision to shift supervisors and teams.
• Lead, train, and supervise 25–50 team members.
• Promote leadership development within the team.
• Oversee facility and equipment maintenance and supply management.
• Maintain a safe working environment and safety compliance.
• Manage daily cycle counts and root cause analysis to improve inventory health.
• Coordinate and execute annual physical inventory and process improvements.
• Possibly oversee Slabs team; manage operations across shifts.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Summary:

The Operations Supervisor manages shift leads, provides leadership and training to team members, and ensures shifts are adequately staffed and equipped to complete daily workloads efficiently.

Work Hours:

Monday to Friday from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM, 2 Saturday(s) a month from 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Compensation:

This hourly, non-exempt position pays from $26 to $28.75 per hour, with overtime compensated at 1.5 times the base rate. New hires usually earn between $59,300 and $76,700 annually, or more, depending on experience, overtime hours, and bonuses.

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to complete the following essential duties and responsibilities:

• Ensure all shifts and functions are properly staffed to handle varied work volumes and optimize order flow for approximately 25 employees.
• Develop, maintain, and manage facility quality processes
• Ensure on-time shipping performance by collaborating with supervisors and managers to meet receipt and shipment standards
• Manage quality and productivity reporting daily, weekly, and monthly
• Supervise facility realignment activities to maximize operational efficiency
• Oversee operational activities to ensure DC layout and continuous improvement initiatives support operational goals
• Provide direct supervision to shift supervisors; hold them accountable for their and their teams’ performance
• Lead, train, and supervise 25 to 50 team members
• Promote leadership development and professional growth within the team
• Oversee facility and equipment maintenance and supply management
• Maintain a safe working environment and ensure safety compliance
• Manage daily cycle counts, conduct research and root cause analysis, and develop solutions to improve warehouse inventory health
• Coordinate and execute annual physical inventory, driving process improvements
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including possible oversight of the Slabs team
• Manage operations across multiple shifts
• Perform additional duties as required or requested.

Additionally the candidate must meet the following Education and/or Experience requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Logistics or Operations Management required
• Minimum five (5) years of supervisory or management experience
• Five (5) years of relevant work experience
• Five (5) plus years of Distribution Center operations experience
• Experience supervising teams of 15 or more employees
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles highly desired
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
• Related industry experience in natural stone, tile, or hard flooring preferred
• Ability to present operational data effectively to business and leadership teams
• Proven ability to drive cultural change while improving efficiencies and processes
• Adaptable to changing business needs
• Strong knowledge of distribution and warehouse management systems
• Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills
• Goal-oriented with a record of self-motivation and achievement; proactive with strong analytical skills
