Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Agronomy Operations Specialist in Iowa to support daily plant and warehouse operations, including loading and unloading fertilizer and crop protection products, and ensuring safety and inventory control in our facility.

The role requires operating forklifts and related equipment, assisting with deliveries, and maintaining equipment and facilities for accurate records and service quality.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Class A CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements.
  • DOT physical card.
  • Pesticide Handlers License.
  • Iowa Commercial Applicators license with 1A, 1B, 1C, and seed treatment.
  • Or the ability to obtain all of the above.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce and abide by all cooperative policies.
  • Assist with receiving, unloading, storage, handling, blending, and loading of fertilizer, seed, crop protection products, and other agronomy products.
  • Load customer and company vehicles accurately and efficiently while following proper product handling procedures.
  • Assist with fertilizer blending and other product preparation according to work orders and customer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and assist with inventory counts, product reconciliation, and identification of inventory discrepancies.
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify products and quantities against shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Assist with organizing warehouses, bulk storage areas, chemical facilities, and other agronomy operational areas.
  • Operate forklifts, loaders, conveyors, augers, tenders, and other equipment necessary for agronomy operations.
  • Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment and facilities and communicate needed repairs to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including warehouses, loading areas, equipment, and grounds.
  • Assist customers with product pickup and provide professional, courteous service.
  • Support applicators, drivers, and agronomy sales staff by preparing products and equipment for daily work.
  • Assist with deliveries and transportation of agronomy products as assigned and when properly licensed or qualified.
  • Complete required paperwork and electronic records accurately and timely.
  • Work extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, during planting, application, and harvest seasons as business needs require.
  • Assist at other company locations or within operational areas when necessary.
  • Exhibits integrity and professional attitude.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The Agronomy Operations Specialist supports the daily operations within the Agronomy Department. Incumbent operates and maintains the fertilizer plant and warehouse operations. Incumbent is also responsible for deliveries, service, maintenance, housekeeping, and safety. Incumbent is responsible for operating agronomy facilities, loading and unloading bulk and packaged fertilizer and chemical products, and measuring agronomy inventory. Position entails handling, blending and delivery of agricultural chemicals and products for customers and the general maintenance and housekeeping of the facility. The Agronomy Operations Specialist will operate equipment such as forklifts and loaders and maintain seed and bulk treatment equipment.

Requirements
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Previous agricultural, warehouse, equipment operation, commercial driving, or agronomy experience preferred

License, Certificate or Registration:

  • Class A CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements
  • DOT physical card
  • Pesticide Handlers License
  • Iowa Commercial Applicators license with 1A, 1B, 1C, and seed treatment
  • Or the ability to obtain all of the above

Basic Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary
  • Computer Skills required - Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Good customer service skills and approach necessary
  • Speaking, Writing, Reading Comprehension, Listening, Monitoring, Judgment and Decision Making, Time Management; Fluent reading, writing, and speaking the English language
