Job summary

Central United Coop is seeking a dependable agronomy operations assistant to safely apply crop inputs, operate and maintain equipment, and support warehouse and retail activity. You will deliver products to field operators and customers, fill tanks, and help with ongoing housekeeping and safety inspections.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, a valid Class A CDL with Hazmat/Tanker endorsements, and the Minnesota pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one quickly.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements must be held.
  • DOT physical clearance and drug test pass required.
  • Minnesota Pesticide Applicator license or ability to obtain within timeframe.
  • Ability to operate tractors, semis, grain trucks, loaders, and conveyors.
  • Availability to work extended hours during peak seasons.
  • Computer and data entry skills required.
  • Good communication and ability to follow directions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment to apply chemical and fertilizer to fields.
  • Perform maintenance of machinery/equipment.
  • Deliver fertilizer, chemical, water, and anhydrous to operators.
  • Fill anhydrous tanks.
  • Assist with chemical and seed warehouse activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of facility upkeep, housekeeping, and safety inspections.
  • Assist wholesale and retail customers by processing orders and loading products.
  • Receive, inspect, and dispatch incoming and outgoing products accurately.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, facilities, and grounds.

Job description

Description
Primary Objectives of the Position:

Support the daily operations of the cooperative's agronomy department by safely applying crop inputs, delivering products, operating and maintaining equipment, and assisting with warehouse, wholesale, and retail operations. This position provides quality service to member-owners and customers while ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate operations through teamwork, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

Major Areas of Accountability:
  • Operate equipment to apply chemical & fertilizer to farm fields
  • Perform maintenance of machinery/equipment
  • Deliver fertilizer, chemical, water, and anhydrous to operators
  • Fill anhydrous tanks
  • Assist with chemical and seed warehouse activities
  • Maintain accurate records of facility upkeep, housekeeping, and routine safety inspections
  • Assist wholesale and retail customers by processing orders, loading products, and ensuring accurate and timely service
  • Receive, inspect, and dispatch incoming and outgoing products accurately
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, facilities, and grounds to ensure safe and efficient operations
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
  • Must be able to pass DOT required physical and related drug test
  • Minnesota Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (Category A) or the ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe after hire
  • Ability to operate tractors, semi’s, grain trucks, loaders, and conveyors
  • Availability to work extended hours during peak seasons
  • Computer and data entry skills
  • Must be able to follow directions and effectively communicate with others
Value-Added Qualifications
  • Agriculture background preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 75lbs., climb ladders and/or rail cars, stairs, and bins
  • May also be required to work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work in grain dust and during inclement weather
  • Must be able to perform all physical requirements of the position
