Job summary

DHL Aviation EMA HUB is seeking an Operations Ramp Supervisor to coordinate ramp activities and ensure safe unloading and reloading of air freight in accordance with DHL, airline and regulatory requirements.

The role leads a team, manages shift patterns (Tuesdays to Fridays 15:30–02:00), liaises with third-party customers, drives continuous improvement and ensures timely distribution across the network.

Qualifications

  • Ramp/Hub operations knowledge required.
  • Strong safety mindset and regulatory awareness.
  • Experience with EOS/CIS and related processes.
  • Able to lead a team and manage staff performance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate safe Ramp operations through staff and resource management.
  • Ensure activities comply with Company and international standards including Health & Safety at Work Act, Aviation Security Act and GSOP/Q-Pulse Requirements.
  • Ensure deadlines and schedules are met.
  • Liaise with external third-party customers.
  • Support DHL Core operations as required.
  • Identify training requirements.
  • Input LRT data.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Narrow and Wide-bodied aircraft handling.
  • CIS & EOS facilitation.
  • Managing time and absence of team.
  • Providing regular developmental and motivational feedback.
  • Conducting quarterly Check-Ins with the team.
  • Driving participation in Employee Opinion Survey and follow up actions.
  • Mentor and support staff to develop high performing teams.
  • Health and Safety responsibility for team and risk awareness.

Operations Ramp Supervisor

Location: DHL Aviation, East Midlands Airport

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: Tues-Friday- 15:30-02:00

Department: Ramp

Grade: LL

About the Role

The Ramp is an essential department within operations at the EMA HUB. The ramp workers ensures that once material arrives in the Hub facility by air transport, the unloading and reloading is performed in accordance with DHL, Airline and Legal Regulations, and that the material is sorted in accordance with established procedures and is available for further distribution throughout the network at scheduled times.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Co-ordinate safe Ramp operations through effective staff and resource management
  • Ensure operational activities are conducted in compliance with Company and International Standards including the Health and Safety at Work Act, Aviation Security Act and GSOP/Q-Pulse Requirements
  • Ensure deadlines and schedules are met
  • Liaise with external third-party customers
  • Support DHL Core operations as required

  • Driving participation in Employee Opinion Survey and contribute to follow up actions
  • Motivate, mentor and support staff at all times to develop high performing teams through active leadership and defined team and individual expectations
  • Supervisors are responsible for the Health and Safety of their employees as well as having a thorough understanding of the Health and Safety Policy and the risk associated with their area of responsibility.
