Job Description

BAE Systems is seeking a Production Operations Manager to oversee the operational requirements of the York, PA facility, focusing on assembly, fabrication, and test operations. Responsibilities include ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products and services, meeting performance standards, and providing leadership to achieve safety, environmental, quality, schedule, and cost goals. The role serves as a primary contact for Program Managers and other department heads within Combat Mission Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Plan and execute manufacturing efforts for assigned programs, including staffing, scheduling, layout planning, material flow, and budgeting.
  2. Manage and direct both salaried and bargaining unit employees in operations and engineering to meet safety, environmental, quality, schedule, and cost objectives.
  3. Act as a point of contact with customers regarding schedule changes, production status, and operational issues.
  4. Ensure operational objectives are met, resolve issues, and promote a collaborative environment.
  5. Present updates to senior management and customers regarding production status.
  6. Oversee budget preparation, review monthly operational reports, and develop plans to address variances, aiming for cost-effective production.
  7. Review and approve capital budgets and oversee facility improvements.
  8. Foster a world-class, team-oriented work environment among direct reports.
  9. Keep leadership informed of production status and support bid and proposal efforts.
  10. Manage the professional development of staff to ensure high performance and future growth.
  11. Oversee departmental activities to meet internal and external customer needs and organizational goals.
  12. Implement Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma initiatives organization-wide.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or related field, plus 12+ years of relevant experience or 6 additional years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving, planning, and responding to customer requests.
  • Effective communication skills to relate to all levels of personnel and drive continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business is preferred.
  • Experience in government contracting is desired.
  • Knowledge of assembly and manufacturing processes.
Additional Information

Salary Range: $105,254 - $178,931, based on market and candidate qualifications.
