Job description

**Job Description**

BAE Systems is looking for a Production Operations Manager who will manage the operational requirements of BAE Systems York PA facility focusing on all site Assembly, Fabrication and Test operations. Ensures required products and services are delivered on time and within cost in accordance with contract terms and conditions, while also meeting performance requirements. Provides leadership in the attainment of safety, environmental, quality, schedule and cost goals. Serves as the point of contact for inquiries from the Program Managers and other functional department heads within Combat Mission Systems.

+ Responsible for the planning and execution of the manufacturing effort for programs and functions awarded and assigned. This includes staffing, setting schedules, planning shop layout, material flow, daily production rates, and cost estimates/budgets.

+ Manages and gives direction to both salaried and bargaining unit employees in operations and manufacturing engineering in attainment of safety, environmental, quality, schedule and cost goals.

+ Serves as a point of contact with the customer on schedule changes, production status and other operations issues.

+ Ensures Operational obligations and objectives are met. Provides leadership and anticipates/resolves issues and inter-group conflict.

+ Makes presentations and interfaces with senior management, corporate-level managers and high-ranking customers on all matters affecting the status of operations.

+ Ensures direct reports prepare cost center budgets and then reviews and approves. Reviews monthly reports detailing operating, direct labor utilization and efficiency, scrap, rework and defect per vehicle data. Develops and executes plans to address unfavorable trends or variances. Ensures production at lowest achievable cost.

+ Reviews and analyzes capital budget requests and implements necessary capital improvements for the facility.

+ Develops, through leadership of direct reports, a world-class and work-teaming environment among his/her direct reports.

+ Keeps Site Manager, Program Directors, and VP/GM appraised of the production status of all programs. Responds to requests for information to support bids and ROM s (Rough Order of Magnitude) for potential future business opportunities.

+ Co-plans with his/her staff, and then directs and manages, the professional development of direct and indirect reports to ensure: (1) excellent current and future job performance; (2) adequate preparation for the employees future career growth opportunities: (3) a highly talented and motivated workforce that will achieve the Company s immediate and strategic objectives.

+ Directs and manages all departmental activities and responsibilities either personally, or through his/her staff, to ensure the needs of all internal and external customers are met, and the goals and objectives of the company, division and department are supported and achieved.

+ Oversee the training and implementation of Lean Principles, Kaizen Projects and/or Six-Sigma techniques throughout the organization.

**Required Education, Experience, & Skills**

+ Bachelor s Degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing or other strongly related discipline plus a minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant experience in such areas as manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, quality, and contracts plus a minimum of three years experience supervising office and production personnel or 6 additional years relevant experience in lieu of degree.

+ An exceptionally high level of analytical ability is required to solve quality, cost and resource-planning problems; prioritize production scheduling; develop and execute manufacturing plans; and respond to customer requested changes.

+ Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate is required. Requires the ability to relate to all levels of personnel and to drive the plant forward on a continuous improvement path.

**Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills**

+ Master s Degree in Engineering or Business related field is preferred.

+ Previous experience working in a government contract environment is desired.

+ Comprehensive knowledge of Assembly/Manufacturing process's.

**Pay Information**

Full-Time Salary Range: $105254 - $178931

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
