Operations Manager & Underwriting Assistant

Lawyers Mutual Insurance Company of Kentucky (“LMICK”) is seeking to hire a full-time Operations Manager & Underwriting Assistant. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, good judgment, and strong time management skills. This role involves assisting LMICK in maintaining its reputation as the Kentucky Bar Association-endorsed legal malpractice insurance carrier, providing exemplary service to its insureds.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact by welcoming visitors, answering phone calls/emails, and directing them to the appropriate team members.
  • Organize office operations and procedures, control correspondence, maintain office supplies, and design/maintain filing systems (both paper and electronic).
  • Perform basic bookkeeping and clerical duties.
  • Support the underwriting department by processing renewal applications, organizing communications, and assisting with filing.
  • Analyze and quote customer renewal applications in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Report on office progress and collaborate to improve office procedures.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • 2-3 years of clerical or data entry experience in an office setting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, professional and polite demeanor.
  • Active Kentucky property and casualty license or willingness to obtain one.
