Job summary

Allied Mineral Products in Pell City, Alabama, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager, Shapes, to lead our precast refractory manufacturing facility.

You will drive safety, productivity, and quality, oversee production planning, capital planning, and employee development, and partner with engineering, maintenance, and cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes lean thinking, data-driven decisions, and budget stewardship to elevate plant performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing plant management experience.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and quality systems.
• Lean or Six Sigma certifications a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce safety protocols within the plant, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
• Oversee and manage the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring timely production and delivery of precast refractory products, monitoring KPIs and productivity.
• Inspire, lead, and manage change initiatives within the plant, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruptions to operations.
• Introduce new ideas, methods, and technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness; collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements.
• Apply engineering principles to daily tasks, creating quantitative controls and reporting measures.
• Maintain adherence to quality control measures to ensure products meet high standards.
• Efficiently manage resources to optimize production and minimize costs.
• Lead and motivate a team, providing training and development for continuous improvement.
• Monitor and control operational costs and implement cost-saving strategies.
• Utilize and maintain ERP systems for scheduling, inventory control, shipping and process controls.
• Prepare and present regular reports on plant performance and improvements.
• Develop and submit annual budgets, capex requests, and business plans to executive committee.
