Job summary

Allied Mineral Products in Columbus, Ohio, seeks a Manager, Forms Technology to lead the molds and forming systems used in our precast products. You will direct the Forms team, set priorities, allocate resources, coach staff, and ensure safety, quality, and production targets are met.

The role drives form technology innovation across North America and globally, advances standardization, and oversees design, construction, maintenance, and continuous improvement of molds.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar technical field.
• At least five years of supervision experience.
• At least five years of related work experience.
• Prior carpentry or fabrication skills are preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires spatial reasoning and practical problem solving.
• Knowledge of mechanical design principles.
• Ability to use CAD and other computer tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and manage seven direct reports with performance management, coaching, training, and development.
• Execute an efficient manufacturing schedule that maximizes form utilization and supports delivery.
• Establish priorities, coordinate cross-functional requirements, manage timelines, and ensure safety and quality standards.
• Manage workflows for form design, construction, setup, dimensional accuracy, and inspection.
• Identify opportunities to streamline operations, reduce bottlenecks, and improve productivity.
• Ensure forms remain dimensionally accurate, reliable, and available for production.
• Track metrics like utilization, throughput, setup efficiency, maintenance costs, and schedule adherence.
• Drive form construction material and manufacturing technology innovations to improve durability and safety.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and QA to optimize form systems and workflows.
• Promote best practices in form fabrication and design across locations worldwide.
• Manage capital and operating budgets for the form manufacturing area.

Job description

Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. We are currently seeking a Manager, Forms Technology who is responsible for the overall management, performance, and strategic utilization of all molds and form making assets used in the manufacture of precast shaped products. This role provides direct leadership and development of the Forms team, including setting priorities, allocating resources, coaching employees, managing performance, and building organizational capability, while ensuring production requirements, quality expectations, safety standards, and operational objectives are achieved.

Beyond operational management, the Manager, Forms Technology serves as the organization's technical leader for form technology innovation and continuous improvement. While based in Columbus, this role is expected to understand, lead, and influence form technology best practices across North America and globally, supporting standardization, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across Allied manufacturing operations. The role is responsible for the design, selection, optimization, maintenance, and technological advancement of molds and forming systems that enable the efficient, and repeatable production of high-quality precast shaped products

This role will require domestic and international travel to Allied manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and vendors, up to 20%.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and manage seven (7) direct reports, including performance management, coaching, training, and employee development.
• Execute an efficient manufacturing schedule that maximizes form utilization, balances production capacity, and supports customer delivery requirements.
• Establish priorities, coordinate cross-functional requirements, manage project timelines, support team development, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout all aspects of form operations.
• Manage workflows associated with form design, construction, setup, dimensional accuracy, and inspection.
• Identify opportunities to streamline operations, eliminate bottlenecks, reduce cycle times, and improve plant productivity.
• Ensure that forms remain dimensionally accurate, reliable, and available to meet production.
• Track performance metrics such as form utilization, production throughput, setup efficiency, maintenance costs, schedule adherence, and quality performance.
• Drive innovation in form construction materials and manufacturing technologies by evaluating and developing new form materials and construction methods designed to improve durability, flexibility, safety, and manufacturing performance.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, operations, and quality assurance teams to ensure that form systems support production goals, optimize workflows, and maximize productivity.
• Promote, lead, and influence best practices in form fabrication and design across Columbus, North America, and global Allied manufacturing operations, supporting standardization, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across Allied Shapes facilities.
• Manage capital and operating budgets for the form manufacturing functional area.

Working Environment

• The job can be in a dusty environment.
• Production floor is in a non-temperature-controlled building.
• Required to wear respirator (when needed), safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
