Job summary

Univar Solutions in Houston, TX is seeking an Operations Manager to lead daily terminal operations, supervise Yard Specialists and Operations Coordinators, and manage the department's budget. The role collaborates with the Transportation Branch Manager to service customers and ensure safety, compliance and efficiency.

You will drive environmental, health and safety programs, oversee staff development, and coordinate branch reviews.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years experience in operations.
• Experience with governmental requirements related to the chemical industry (OSHA, EPA, RCRA, DOT) preferred.
• Knowledge of chemical distribution facility operation preferred.
• Working knowledge of hazardous chemicals preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems; SAP preferred.
• Supervisory Leadership; ability to communicate with and motivate employees.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.
• Able to multi-task and prioritize in a team environment.
• Analytical; track, record and report department metrics.
• Process improvement projects.
• High level of decision-making ability balancing customer needs and company objectives.
• Strong organization skills with heavy workload management.
• HazMat or Hazwoper Certification.
• Ability to lead in emergency response situations.
• Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel/Word).
• Basic understanding of ERP systems, SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe, efficient operations at terminals and with customers.
• Ensure training, documentation and record keeping per policies.
• Support sales while upholding health, safety and environmental standards.
• Conduct incident investigations and report root causes.
• Brief management on performance, costs and trends.
• Lead branch supervision and ensure pre-shift meetings.
• Manage budget and operating plan to meet branch goals.
• Develop emails and correspondence with customers.
• Coordinate inventory management and quality assurance.
• Direct facility maintenance and security of operations.
• Lead process improvement initiatives.
