Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services in Grand Prairie, TX, is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee transportation and facility operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient processing of regulated medical waste.

You will lead and develop teams, manage routing and warehouse activities, maintain fleet readiness, and partner with Dispatch and Sales to drive continuous improvement in productivity and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or appropriate combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of management experience.
• Experience in transportation management in a fast-paced JIT environment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
• Ability to foster a positive, productive team environment.
• Strong customer service mindset with ability to identify and address needs proactively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
• Class D Chauffeur's License required; CDL preferred/required per company standards.
• Knowledge of Regulated Medical Waste, Pharmaceutical Waste, Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste, and Municipal Solid Waste/Recycling.
• Must be willing to commit the time and effort required to complete assignments at a high level of quality.
• Ability to learn company software programs used for routing and billing.

Responsibilities

• Oversee transportation and processing operations, coordinating with Dispatch and Warehouse Leads.
• Manage routing and warehouse activities to support daily deliveries and urgent customer needs.
• Coordinate fleet maintenance and document unrepairable equipment for inventory.
• Perform routine quality checks on sharps washing machines and containers.
• Monitor and report operational KPIs and drive safety improvements.
• Hire, train, and coach staff while leading safety meetings.
• Oversee permits, renewals, and regulatory compliance (DOT, DEQ, EPA, TJC).
• Oversee budget and P&L performance and manage fleet systems (HOS, training).
• Other duties as required.
