Job summary

Sharps Medical Waste Services is seeking an Operations Manager to supervise transportation and facility operations ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient processing of regulated waste. You will lead teams, manage routing and warehouse activity, maintain fleet readiness, and drive customer service excellence across regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or appropriate combination of education and experience.
• 3–5 years of management experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in transportation management in a JIT environment.
• Strong analytical, communication and leadership skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows operating systems.
• Class D Chauffeur's License required; CDL preferred/required per company standards.
• Knowledge of Regulated Medical Waste, Pharmaceutical Waste, Hazardous Waste, Universal Waste, and Municipal Solid Waste/Recycling.
• Ability to learn company software programs used for routing and billing.

Responsibilities

• Complete routine scheduled preventative maintenance across assigned facilities.
• Manage and oversee transportation and processing operations, collaborating with Dispatch and Warehouse Leads.
• Ensure supplies, equipment, and routes are properly staged to support daily deliveries and urgent customer needs.
• Coordinate fleet and equipment maintenance, including documentation of unrepairable equipment for inventory.
• Perform routine quality control checks on sharps washing machines and containers to ensure sanitation standards.
• Monitor, measure, and report operational KPIs.
• Support customer service by ensuring timely new customer setups, addressing missed stops, and coordinating pickups.
• Manage state permits, renewals, and regulatory compliance (DOT, DEQ, EPA, TJC, etc.).
• Hire, schedule, train, and coach staff while fostering a strong safety culture and leading safety meetings.
• Oversee budget and P&L performance, and manage fleet systems including HOS, safety training, and coaching.
• Other duties as required.
