Job summary

Lumbermen’s, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is expanding with a temporary Warren, OH location and a permanent Youngstown base. The Operations Manager will lead the warehouse team, collaborate with suppliers, customers and the sales team, and drive safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires strong leadership, a business-minded approach, and experience in distribution or retail, with potential travel within the first six months to learn from current centers.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or a related field or commensurate experience
• 5-7 years’ management experience
• Distribution or retail experience is strongly desired, building materials experience is beneficial

Responsibilities

• Model Lumbermen’s mission, vision, and promise to employee owners
• Provide leadership for Youngstown and Warren division
• Recruit, hire, train, and develop an exceptional team
• Set operational goals and monitor progress against them
• Provide ongoing feedback and conduct performance check-ins
• Monitor service quality, budgets, labor adherence, and productivity metrics
• Analyze capital expenditures and justify expenditures to improve efficiency and revenue
• Ensure safety/OSHA/DOT compliance and oversee fleet maintenance
• Drive Lumbermen’s Safety Program and leaning initiatives
• Coordinate maintenance, supplies, and building needs for Youngstown and Warren
