Job summary

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in limited energy/electrical construction with PM and leadership experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Certifications: BICSI RCDD, NICET III/IV, CTS, PMP, OSHA 30 valued.
  • Strong financial acumen and risk management; able to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Project Managers and oversee complex projects to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with high quality.
  • Mentor and develop APMs into PMs and PMs into senior roles.
  • Apply hands-on project management skills and technical knowledge to coach PMs on complex work.
  • Drive process improvements at the project level and contribute to departmental strategy.
  • Monitor margins, budgets, and team utilization; track KPIs and resolve blockers.

Job Description Summary

The Operations Manager at ECSI is pivotal in translating strategic directives from the Director of Construction into actionable project execution within the Limited Energy division. This role involves overseeing structured cabling, electronic security, fire alarm, audio/visual, nurse call, and related systems. The Operations Manager leads a team of Project Managers while personally managing select high-priority, complex projects; ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


Key Responsibilities


  • Project Leadership: Guide Project Managers in executing the Director's plans, ensuring projects are installed, commissioned, and invoiced efficiently while maintaining gross margins.

  • Technical Expertise: Utilize hands‑on project management skills and technical knowledge (BICSI, NICET, NEC, NFPA 72) to coach PMs and manage complex projects, reducing rework and warranty issues.

  • Team Development: Mentor Assistant Project Managers (APMs) into Project Managers (PMs) and PMs into senior roles, enhancing the division's capacity for growth.

  • Process Improvement: Drive best practices and process improvements at the project level, contributing to departmental strategy.

  • Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators such as project margin, budget adherence, and team utilization.

  • Daily Priorities: Conduct daily check‑ins with PMs to ensure field readiness and resolve any blockers; monitor project progress, adjusting resources as necessary to meet budget and milestones.

  • Weekly and Monthly Focus: Review project pipelines, manage resources, and coordinate with clients and other trades; conduct financial reviews and performance evaluations, focusing on margin performance and process improvements.


Qualifications


  • Experience: 10 years in the limited energy/electrical construction industry, with at least 5 years in project management and 2+ years in leadership roles.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.

  • Certifications: BICSI RCDD, NICET III/IV, CTS, PMP, and OSHA 30 are highly valued.

  • Skills and Competencies: Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to anticipate risks and make decisive actions; proven ability to orchestrate labor and resources effectively across multiple projects.; excellent coaching and leadership skills fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Physical Requirements: Frequent site visits requiring walking, climbing, and standing on uneven surfaces; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and wear necessary PPE.

Pay Range

$107,008.00 - $155,648.00 Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only. In addition to base compensation, Hunt Electric offers a robust benefits plan.
