Operations Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee daily operations at our steel mill facility. This role requires a strong, people-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing large teams, optimizing schedules, and ensuring operational efficiency—especially in dockside operations involving barges and tugboats.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop a team of approximately 45 employees across multiple shifts.
• Create, adjust, and manage employee schedules to meet production and logistical demands.
• Oversee dock operations, including coordination with barges, tugboats, and shipping schedules.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.
• Collaborate with other departments (maintenance, logistics, quality control) to ensure seamless operations.
• Monitor and manage inventory, particularly scrap metal, and coordinate its movement and processing.
  
  

Qualifications

• 5+ years of operations or plant management experience, preferably in a steel mill or heavy industrial environment.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with experience overseeing large teams.
• Demonstrated ability to create and manage complex schedules
• Experience working on or managing dock operations involving barges and tugboats is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with scrap metal handling and processing is a strong plus.
