Job description

Job Summary

This role is responsible for onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and performance management of all drivers and helpers. The focus is on establishing and maintaining positive relationships with all front-line employees. The majority of the day is spent in the field with frontline employees. The position starts at 8:00 am.

Responsibilities
  • Ensuring new front-line employees have tools, instruction, and feedback for successful daily duties
  • Meeting with new front-line employees daily to ensure consistent communication and support of onboarding
  • Providing timely and consistent touchpoints with front-line employees
  • Regularly reviewing best practices to enhance daily performance
  • Focusing on understanding and progress of front-line employee career goals
  • Identifying and addressing improvement opportunities and collaborating with front-line employees to ensure continued success
  • Actively practicing and seeking feedback on coaching conversations
  • Leading by example to ensure safety practices are paramount with each employee
  • Teaching and developing an understanding of the WM Way
  • Conducting root‑cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining
  • Documenting and maintaining records required by regulatory agencies such as the Department of Transportation
  • Reviewing and auditing documentation related to route operations daily (e.g., DVIRs, driver time and attendance, open tickets) and following up where appropriate
  • Visiting customers and customer sites to evaluate and resolve safety issues, seeking service alternatives where appropriate
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree (accredited) or, in lieu of a degree,
  • High School Diploma (accredited) and two (2) years of relevant work experience
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of the WM Operations Manager Trainee program
