Job summary

Piedmont Door Solutions in Columbia, MD is seeking an Operations Manager to lead our local branch. You will oversee field operations, service and installations, scheduling, and customer satisfaction while driving safety, quality, and on-time project delivery.

You will mentor technicians, manage inventory and contractors, and partner with business development on quotes and key accounts. A proven background in commercial doors and strong leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in commercial doors, automatic doors or related field service.
• 2+ years leading field techs or managing service/install ops.
• Strong knowledge of automatic door operators and hardware.
• Excellent communication, organization and problem‑solving skills.
• Familiar with field service software, scheduling platforms and MS Office.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; pass background and MVR.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop technicians, installers and office staff.
• Oversee dispatch and scheduling to hit response times and first-time fix rates.
• Manage install projects from handoff to closeout: scheduling, materials and subcontractors.
• Drive safety and compliance with ANSI, AAADM and OSHA practices.
• Own branch KPIs: labor utilization, billable hours, profitability and satisfaction.
• Build and manage preventive maintenance and service agreements.
• Partner with business development on quotes and key accounts.
• Manage truck stock, inventory, fleet and tools; recruit and train staff.
• Be the go‑to contact for customers, general contractors and facility managers.
• Keep accurate records in field service and ERP systems.

We install, service and maintain automatic doors, manual doors and door hardware for hospitals, universities, retail, government and commercial facilities. The Role

We're hiring an Operations Manager to lead our Columbia, MD branch. You'll run day-to-day field operations, including service, installs, scheduling, tech performance and customer satisfaction, and help grow the branch across the Baltimore–Washington market.

What You'll Do

• Lead, coach and develop automatic door technicians, installers and office staff
• Oversee dispatch and scheduling to hit response times, first-time fix rates and service agreement commitments
• Manage install projects from handoff to closeout: scheduling, materials, subcontractors and punch lists
• Drive safety and compliance: ANSI A156.10/A156.19, AAADM inspection requirements and OSHA practices
• Own branch KPIs: labor utilization, billable hours, job profitability, callbacks and customer satisfaction
• Build and manage preventive maintenance and service agreement programs
• Partner with business development on quotes, scope reviews and key accounts
• Manage truck stock, inventory, fleet and toolsRecruit, onboard and train techs, and support AAADM certification for the team
• Be the go-to contact for key customers, GCs and facility managers
• Keep accurate records in our field service and ERP systems

What You Bring

• 5+ years in commercial doors, automatic doors, access control or a related field service industry (HVAC, Electrical, Automotive)
• 2+ years leading field techs or managing service/install operations
• Strong knowledge of automatic door operators (sliding, swing, folding, revolving) and commercial door hardware and or willing to learn.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable with field service software, scheduling platforms and Microsoft Office
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Must pass a background check and MVR

Nice to Have

• AAADM certification
• Experience with Stanley, Horton, ASSA ABLOY/Besam, Nabco, dormakaba or Record
• Experience managing budgets, P&L drivers and operational KPIs
• Service agreement and PM program experienceKnowledge of the Baltimore–Washington commercial market (healthcare, education, government, retail)
• Bachelor's degree in business, construction management or a related field, or equivalent experience
