Job description

Terracon's Harrisburg office is seeking an Operations Manager to lead their office! In this opportunity, your leadership will shape projects, teams, and long-term business growth. This position offers the opportunity to drive profitability, strengthen client relationships, and foster a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement while making a meaningful impact.

Manage and direct activities of an engineering/environmental consulting office. This includes profit/loss management, employee supervision, project management, quality control, health and safety oversight, client relations and development, and new business development. Work in concert with the Director of Regional Operations and partner offices in the region to best utilize staff, assign resources, and ensure quality. Responsible for general leasehold improvements, project and office equipment, and proper utilization of all personnel. Develop and/or review all contracts and proposals prepared by the office; verify technical and financial provisions and ensure manpower budgets are sufficient to complete the contracted work and render a profit.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee a growing office supporting multiple service lines.
  • Focus will be directed to management of specific projects, quality, and employee utilization.
  • Review contracts and proposals prepared by office personnel.
  • Monitor job status reports and ensure quality standards are met.
  • May participate with corporate marketing to maintain client contacts for future development of new business.
  • Responsible for following requirements of the strategic plan; partner with Director, Regional Operations to grow office in accordance with the strategic plan.
  • Manage risk related to projects. Ensure contracts are signed and fully executed prior to commencing work.Monitor adherence to corporate risk policies and practices. Hold Managers accountable for mitigating or eliminating risk.
  • Drive financial metrics amongst department managers and project managers to maintain financial performance, consistency and accountability.
  • Communicate safety initiatives, rules and guidelines for Office or Region. Holds Managers and Employees accountable for following safety rules and guidelines.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects. Ensure best practices are being followed and hold Managers accountable for quality control standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years' practice experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years' related experience.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
