Job summary

Terracon is seeking an experienced leader to manage and direct activities of an engineering consulting office, overseeing profit and loss, staff, and client relations.

The role drives business development, budgets, safety, and risk management across multiple service lines, ensuring projects meet quality standards and financial targets.

Ideal candidates have a bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience; strong leadership and strategic planning skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of practice in engineering or consulting.
• Alternate: 14 years related experience in lieu of degree.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee an engineering consulting office with multi-service lines and ~$10–15M booked labor.
• Assign office manpower to projects to maximize utilization.
• Supervise proposals and coordinate with marketing and experts.
• Manage workloads and lifecycle of employees (recruitment, performance, salary, discipline).
• Direct the office’s business development efforts.
• Assist managers in staffing and securing qualified personnel.
• Develop and execute annual office business plan.
• Prepare annual budgets and operate within approved budgets.
• Monitor project status and coordinate with department managers.
• Report progress to the Director, Regional Operations on business development and financials.
• Ensure contracts are signed and risk controls followed.
• Promote safety and quality monitoring; enforce standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
