Paper Transport, Inc. is seeking a proactive Division Manager to lead a key transportation division in Wisconsin. You will drive profitability by optimizing service, safety, and data-driven decisions while mentoring Driver Managers and Planners to high performance.

The role requires coordinating with Sales, managing staffing, and ensuring compliant operations across the fleet, with travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Deep understanding of transportation operations and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor Driver Managers and Planners to meet operational expectations (on-time performance, revenue per driver, availability, idle time, MPG, turnover, safety).
  • Collaborate with Sales to ensure lane profitability and load ratio above goals.
  • Oversee scheduling and staffing decisions; recommend changes as needed.
  • Maintain positive relationships with drivers and field personnel; coach to KPIs.
  • Monitor asset utilization (trailers, tractors, drivers) and guide movements and allocation.
  • Identify and implement productivity, service, profitability, and efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and transportation regulations.
  • Address operational issues and provide guidance for day-to-day operations.

Job Description: Key position with the objective of effectively managing a division to ensure all safety policies are adhered to, profit of the division is achieved, service expectations are met, and data analysis to improve profit margin. The candidate must be able to enhance team member performance, achieve divisional goals, and effectively lead a team in a positive and forward-thinking atmosphere. Utilizes knowledge of procedures to enhance uniformity of best business practices to perform the functions of the division more efficiently.

Essential Functions/Specific Responsibilities:

  • Coach and mentor Driver Managers and Planners to ensure operational expectations:
    • Customer service and on-time performance
    • Revenue per driver
    • Driver availability, idle, and MPG expectations
    • Driver turnover and retention
    • Safety performance
  • Communicate and collaborate with Sales to ensure lane profitability and maintain a load ratio above contract goals.
  • Oversee personnel scheduling and make recommendations for staffing or operational changes when necessary.
  • Maintain positive relationships with the driver force and field personnel.
  • Coach and mentor drivers to meet or exceed key performance factors.
  • Monitor asset utilization, including trailers, tractors, and drivers, and provide direction on the movement and allocation of those assets.
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity, service, profitability, and overall efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and applicable transportation regulations.
  • Address operational issues, resolve problems, and provide direction to Driver Managers and Planners to support effective day-to-day operations.
  • Travel to customer and off-site locations as needed.

Skills Required for Success:

  • Transportation operations or Operations management experience (approximately 3-5 years)
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop employees while maintaining accountability for performance
  • Strong understanding of transportation operations, safety, compliance, and service expectations
  • Ability to work in an organized manner with excellent follow-through on deliverables
  • Ability to adapt easily to change and manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency while effectively prioritizing competing operational needs
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
