Job summary

Tuckerman Consulting is seeking an Operations Manager for our Danbury, CT distribution operations. You will partner with the Branch Manager to oversee daily branch, warehouse, inventory, logistics, and customer-service activities.

You will coach staff, optimize processes, monitor KPIs, and support sales and budgeting efforts in a dynamic distribution environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience in distribution, building materials, wholesale operations, logistics, or a related industry.
• Working knowledge of branch operations, sales support, inventory management, logistics, and customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and develop employees.
• Strong communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build productive internal and external relationships.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business, inventory, ERP, or warehouse-management systems.
• Experience with commercial building products, contractor customers, purchasing, or inventory control strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily branch, warehouse, inventory, logistics, and customer-service operations.
• Ensure orders are processed accurately and inventory is maintained.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity and service quality.
• Monitor branch KPIs and develop action plans to improve results.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and coverage when Branch Manager is unavailable.
• Support the sales team in achieving revenue, margin, and profitability goals.
• Build relationships with contractors, customers, vendors, and partners.
• Supervise, coach, and support branch employees in a fast-paced environment.
• Train and mentor employees to strengthen operational knowledge and productivity.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and performance evaluations.
• Assist with branch budgeting, expense management, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Support inventory purchasing, replenishment, cycle counts, stock management, and loss-prevention efforts.

Position Overview

Working closely with the Branch Manager, you will help improve operational performance, strengthen customer relationships, develop team members, and support the branch's continued growth and profitability.
