Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse, inventory, or fleet operations.
  • 3+ years of experience managing multi-site distribution operations.
  • Experience in construction supplies, building materials, industrial equipment, or related field.
  • Experience with inventory KPIs: DSI, inventory turns, item outs, EOQ.
  • 3+ years hands-on with Epicor Eclipse or similar ERP (purchasing, transfers, inventory).
  • CDL Class A/B knowledge and DOT/FMCSA compliance is preferred.

  • Manage purchasing queues and replenishment using Epicor Eclipse or similar ERP.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Inventory Control Manager to oversee inventory, purchasing, distribution, and fleet operations across a multi-branch network. This role combines strategic inventory management with hands‑on operational leadership to ensure product availability, efficient working capital utilization, accurate asset tracking, and reliable job‑site deliveries.

Position Responsibilities
Multi-Branch Inventory Management
  • Coordinate inventory balancing and multi-branch transfers across multiple distribution facilities.
  • Ensure appropriate material and equipment availability at each location.
  • Establish and maintain inventory control standards across the network.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
Purchasing & Replenishment
  • Manage purchasing queues and replenishment activities through Epicor Eclipse or a comparable ERP system.
  • Forecast demand across construction materials, equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Establish appropriate economic order quantities and stocking thresholds.
  • Develop strategies to prevent over‑purchasing and minimize excess inventory.
Inventory KPI Management
  • Establish and monitor key inventory performance indicators, including:
    • Days Sales of Inventory (DSI)
    • Inventory Turns
    • Item Outs
    • Economic Order Quantities (EOQ)
  • Develop action plans to improve inventory efficiency and working capital utilization.
  • Maintain strong product availability while controlling carrying costs.
Equipment & Asset Control
  • Maintain accurate records for high‑value construction equipment, tools, machinery, and serialized inventory.
  • Implement effective tracking and security procedures to minimize shrinkage.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and inventory audits.
  • Identify aged, obsolete, slow‑moving, and discontinued inventory.
Excess & Aged Inventory Management
  • Develop markdown, transfer, liquidation, and redistribution strategies for excess inventory.
  • Reallocate surplus materials to locations with higher demand.
  • Establish proactive inventory alerts and controls to prevent accumulation of excess stock.
  • Improve warehouse and yard utilization.
Fleet & Delivery Operations
  • Oversee local delivery operations involving commercial flatbed vehicles and specialized material‑handling equipment.
  • Coordinate routing, dispatch, vehicle utilization, and delivery schedules.
  • Maintain accurate Proof of Delivery processes.
  • Develop job‑site delivery procedures for complex construction environments.
  • Promote safe and efficient use of Moffett forklifts, knuckle boom equipment, and related vehicles.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
  • Oversee CDL driver qualification requirements and DOT compliance.
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance schedules and FMCSA requirements are followed.
  • Monitor load securement, weight distribution, and safe transportation practices.
  • Conduct regular audits of fleet, inventory, and yard operations.
Supplier & Margin Management
  • Partner with manufacturers and suppliers to support strategic purchasing.
  • Manage bulk inventory opportunities and allocations.
  • Identify purchasing opportunities that protect margins and improve profitability.
  • Support cost‑control initiatives across inventory and distribution operations.
Prerequisites
  • 6+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse, inventory, or fleet operations.
  • 3+ years of experience managing multi‑site distribution operations.
  • Experience within construction supplies, building materials, industrial equipment, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing inventory KPIs such as DSI, inventory turns, item outs, and EOQ.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience with Epicor Eclipse or a comparable ERP system, particularly purchasing, branch transfers, and inventory modules.
  • Working knowledge of CDL Class A and Class B fleet regulations.
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with load securement, weight distribution, and commercial fleet operations.
  • Experience with Moffett forklifts, knuckle boom cranes, or comparable material‑handling equipment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly between multiple branch locations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
Certifications (Preferred, but not Required)
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) certification.
  • CDL Class A or Class B experience.
  • Fleet compliance or safety certification.
  • Epicor Eclipse or related ERP training/certification.
