Job summary

MCFA is seeking an Operations Manager for a Raleigh, NC-based construction tech startup. The role is hybrid with remote work and occasional travel, owning day-to-day operations and scalable systems.

You will design repeatable processes, manage a distributed team, analyze data to improve throughput, and collaborate with Product and Engineering to convert pain points into actionable tickets. Requires service-delivery leadership and Lean/Six Sigma training.

Job Title: Operations Manager
Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Full-Time (Remote/Hybrid) ~8~0% Remote with ~20% In-Person/Travel, ~1 visit per month to company HQ in North Carolina and ~1 international visit per quarter.

Salary: $100K+ w/ equity & bonus (Comprehensive Health, Dental, Vision)

Position Overview:

MCFA is partnering with a NC-based construction tech start-up and leading their search for an Operations Manager to own the day-to-day engine of operations. You'll be hyper-focused on optimizing productivity and performance and observing/building/refining systems and teams that serve as a foundation for scalable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, and roll out of processes and standards to build a repeatable system
• Run the processing pipeline end to end: intake, estimation, QA, and delivery, hitting throughput and quality targets as volume grows
• Manage and grow a distributed operations team: hiring, training new batches, capacity planning, and performance management
• Manage and use operational data: identify and treat bottle necks, analyze per-plan hours, stage-level time sinks, rework, and quality escapes to find where the pipeline is slow or error-prone
• Run experiments inside the team: pilot process changes, measure the effect, keep what works
• Work with Product and Engineering to turn recurring operational pain into well-formed tickets, prioritize what saves the most hours, and verify fixes actually land
• Own onboarding of new client requirements so estimators are not re-deriving preferences plan by plan

Qualifications:

• Proven experience managing teams in a service delivery role (operations, production, BPO, or similar)
• Process builder: you have designed workflows, standards, and quality systems
• Lean Processing and Six Sigma training. Experience designing and implementing process improvements
• Data Analytics Skills: comfortable in spreadsheets and dashboards, able to reason from data to root cause, and able to build performance metrics
• Basic understanding of US construction (commercial or residential), or the demonstrated ability to build that understanding fast
• Experience hiring and training people
• US Based, with the ability to travel to Raleigh NC intermittently

Bonus Points:

• Experience reading construction plans, or working with plan and takeoff tools such as Bluebeam, Plan Swift or Revit
• Experience with multifamily or production homebuilding
• Formal training in operations theory
• Junior product management experience: writing specs or tickets, prioritizing a backlog, working directly with engineers
• Experience scaling an operations team across countries or time zones
