The role of the Operations Manager Trainee (OMT) is to gain an understanding of the skills and company knowledge to independently run a financially viable PDS supported dental office. The OMT is responsible for engaging in and owning their professional development through completing the OM Development Program while being supported by their direct supervisor. This will be done through structured curriculum completion, on-the-job practical application, and development meetings. The OMT role is hired with the expectation that each individual will be able to independently manage a dental office in 4-6 months, following timely completion of the OM Development Program.
Responsibilities
- Model company culture, values, standards, and best operational practices based on the We Believe Behavioral Framework; actively learning how to create an environment that promotes PDS culture and values daily.
- Assessment, hiring, and retention of right-fit team members through comprehensive training, supervision, counseling, and coaching.
- Assess, investigate, and resolve staff and patient issues by analyzing facts and circumstances to develop timely, effective, and creative solutions.
- Execution of the PDS Operational Model with consistency to meet office imperatives in partnership with the Owner Dentist.
- Driving year-over-year revenue and profit growth.
- Management of expenses to achieve monthly goals and budgets.
- Show proficiency and adherence to cash management and accounting protocols.
- Be the catalyst in team development of the Perfect Patient Experience.
- Deliver effective leadership, coaching, and mentoring to identify and implement opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain open communication and trust-based relationships with supervisors, addressing issues early.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor per company policies, addressing others respectfully.
- Gain proficiency with tools and resources related to People functions, such as assessment, hiring, retention, performance evaluation, and separation processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory bodies.
- Report weekly to Regional Manager on accomplishments, areas for improvement, performance goals, and system effectiveness.
- By end of the program, demonstrate competency in managing a team of Front and Back Office staff, showing leadership and development skills.
- Develop and implement an office success plan, including staff development and office protocols for efficient operations during absences.
- Perform other duties as assigned to improve team member development outcomes.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five or more years of related operational management experience.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance, verified by a motor vehicle record check at hire.
- Reliable transportation to travel to multiple offices daily; in lieu, alternative transportation must be available.
- Travel may be planned or unplanned and is subject to change.
Preferred
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
- Five or more years of team leadership, mentoring, and coaching experience.

Work Environment
- Primarily sedentary office work, with field visits and driving as needed.
- Low to moderate noise level, occasional exposure to irate individuals.
- Physical requirements include sitting, standing, walking, keyboarding, lifting reports/materials under 40 pounds, and other standard office activities.

Compensation: $30.50-$42.25/hourly.
