Job summary

Clean Power Staffing seeks an O&M Manager to oversee the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of multiple utility-scale solar facilities within a designated geographic area.

You will lead and develop a team of O&M technicians and field personnel, coordinate maintenance activities, resources, and schedules across sites, and serve as the escalation point for complex issues while ensuring KPI targets and safety standards are met.

Job description

The O&M Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of multiple utility-scale solar facilities within a designated geographic area. This position leads and develops a team of O&M technicians and field service personnel while coordinating maintenance activities, resources, and schedules across multiple sites. The O&M Manager serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, monitors plant performance and operational KPIs, and oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs. This role works closely with OEMs, subcontractors, engineering teams, clients, and asset managers to maximize plant availability, minimize downtime, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of multiple utility-scale solar facilities within a designated geographic area.
• Lead, supervise, and develop a team of O&M technicians, electrical technicians, mechanical technicians, and field service personnel.
• Coordinate daily maintenance activities, technician schedules, and resource allocation across multiple sites.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues and troubleshooting efforts.
• Monitor plant performance, equipment health, and KPIs, including availability, production, downtime, and maintenance completion.
• Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize plant performance and minimize equipment downtime.
• Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis involving inverters, trackers, PV systems, transformers, switchgear, SCADA, communications, and medium-voltage equipment.
• Coordinate with OEMs, subcontractors, engineering teams, and specialized vendors to resolve complex equipment and system issues.
• Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented and corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurring failures.
• Manage maintenance schedules, planned outages, spare parts, tools, vehicles, and other operational resources.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, electrical safety standards, environmental regulations, and contractual obligations.
• Communicate regularly with clients, asset managers, owners’ representatives, and internal leadership regarding site performance, outages, and operational risks.
• Support O&M budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, and team development.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in utility-scale solar operations and maintenance, renewable energy, electrical power generation, or a related field.
• Previous experience in an O&M Manager, Area O&M Manager, Regional O&M Manager, Site O&M Manager, or equivalent leadership role.
• Experience overseeing operations and maintenance activities across multiple utility-scale solar facilities or a geographically distributed asset portfolio.
• Proven experience leading, supervising, and developing O&M technicians, electrical technicians, mechanical technicians, or field service teams.
• Strong knowledge of utility-scale solar plant systems, including PV modules, trackers, inverters, transformers, switchgear, SCADA, communications, and medium-voltage equipment.
• Experience troubleshooting complex equipment and electrical system issues and performing root-cause analysis.
• Knowledge of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs and their application to utility-scale solar assets.
• Experience monitoring plant performance and operational KPIs, including availability, production, downtime, and maintenance completion.
• Ability to coordinate maintenance schedules, planned outages, technician resources, spare parts, tools, and vehicles across multiple sites.
• Experience coordinating with OEMs, subcontractors, engineering teams, and specialized vendors to resolve technical issues.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety, OSHA requirements, LOTO, environmental compliance, and applicable industry standards.
• Experience managing maintenance documentation, corrective actions, work orders, and operational reporting.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with technicians, clients, asset managers, owners’ representatives, and internal leadership.
• Experience supporting O&M budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, and team development.
• Ability to travel regularly between multiple operating facilities and respond to operational needs within the assigned geographic area.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with CMMS, SCADA, monitoring platforms, and maintenance management systems preferred.
• Technical degree, electrical or mechanical training, or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
• Relevant electrical, solar, safety, or maintenance certifications are a plus.
