Job summary

ATI is seeking a Maintenance & Reliability Specialist in Monroe, NC to drive reliability-driven maintenance. You will manage budgets, review costs, and align maintenance work with production needs.

Responsibilities

• Own the maintenance budget for the area and manage resources effectively.
• Collaborate with Area Financial Controller on overtime, contractor spend, and costs vs. budget.
• Prioritize daily maintenance activities to align with business objectives.
• Screen work requests for value, resources, priority, and quality.
• Coach operators to submit high-quality work requests.
• Coordinate with Maintenance Planners to meet operational and maintenance needs.
• Prioritize Preventive Maintenance Plans and execute per schedule.
• Align maintenance with production schedules to minimize downtime.
• Develop and adjust maintenance forecasts and support scheduling.
• Close work orders accurately and per technical/financial controls.

Purpose

Ensures reliability-driven maintenance activities deliver value to the business by optimizing resources, maintenance priorities, schedules, and strategies. The role aligns maintenance activities with operational needs to improve efficiency, equipment reliability, and reduce downtime.

Primary Responsibilities

• Own and manage the maintenance budget for the assigned operational area(s) to ensure effective use of resources.
• Work with the Area Financial Controller to track maintenance overtime, contractor spend, and overall maintenance costs against budget.
• Review, challenge, and prioritize daily maintenance activities to align with business objectives and operational needs.
• Review and screen work requests for value, quality, resource requirements, and priority to ensure essential work is appropriately identified and executed.
• Provide coaching and guidance to operators to ensure high-quality Model Work Requests are submitted.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Planners to ensure work-order priorities meet both operational and maintenance requirements.
• Ensure Preventive Maintenance Plans are appropriately prioritized and executed in accordance with established maintenance schedules.
• Work closely with the Maintenance Scheduler and Operations to align maintenance activities with production schedules, minimize downtime, and maximize efficiency.
• Develop and adjust maintenance forecasts and support weekly and daily scheduling to meet changing operational requirements.
• Ensure work orders are closed accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with technical requirements and financial controls.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical training in Industrial Maintenance, Operations, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in maintenance, operations, reliability, planning, or a related role within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, production processes, and the impact of maintenance on safety, quality, throughput, and downtime.
• Ability to align maintenance priorities with operational and business needs.
• Proficiency in CMMS systems for reviewing, prioritizing, tracking, and reporting maintenance work.
• Knowledge of maintenance work management processes, including prioritization, planning, scheduling, execution, and closure.
• Experience with maintenance budgeting, cost control, contractor spending, overtime, and resource allocation.
• Ability to coordinate effectively across Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Planning, Scheduling, and Finance.
• Strong decision-making, communication, coaching, and prioritization skills.
• Ability to challenge non-value-added activities and drive improvements in maintenance and operational efficiency.
