Job summary

Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) seeks an Apprentice I: Operations as part of a three-year Apprenticeship Program. The role includes rotations across preventive maintenance, maintenance, and school facilities, with potential promotion opportunities after the first year.

You will train in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance, working shifts including evenings, nights, and overtime during peak periods. Candidates must meet basic education and license requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required; and
• Technical or Vocational School Beyond High School in a maintenance trade preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing preventive maintenance on equipment throughout buildings (air handling units, rooftops, exhaust fans, cooling towers, filters, belts).
• Assist with minor maintenance repairs (cleaning plumbing fixtures, replacing bulbs/fuses/ballasts).
• Assist with opening/closing buildings and monitoring security; respond to emergencies as directed.
• Assist with assigning and inspecting work of custodians; support HVAC troubleshooting.
• Maintain logs and records of completed work; submit readings electronically; generate work orders as needed.
• Participate in snow removal and perform related duties.
