Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking Management Trainees for hands-on training across service center operations, from logistics and freight management to team leadership. The program includes mentorship, CDL eligibility, forklift training, and leadership coursework to prepare you to supervise shifts and departments.

Education required is a Bachelor's degree. Candidates should be ready to relocate and commit to a long-term career with opportunities to advance within OD's nationwide network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• AS400 background helpful.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must be open to relocation after training.
• Professional appearance and solid work history.

Responsibilities

• Complete shift manager's training as an understudy with an experienced manager or supervisor.
• Trainees will complete forklift job training knowledge and production exercises on all jobs within the service center.
• Fill in as a supervisor on various shifts and departments.
• Develop and implement new department indicators and process changes.
• Works in AS400 moving freight and maintains records of efficiency, quality, cost, and loads.
• Uses Workday to update payroll and employee information.
• Writes and submits monthly activity reports.
• Assigns work to employees according to daily schedule.
• Makes quick, informed decisions based on volume levels and communicates schedule to employees.
• Approximately 15% travel to other service centers to learn operations.
