Job summary

Covia in Chardon, OH seeks an Operations Manager to direct production, shipping, and maintenance, ensuring safety and high product quality while reducing cost. You will lead engineering and shop teams to meet production goals and drive continuous improvement across mining, processing, and logistics.

The successful candidate has a Bachelor’s in engineering or a technical field, 5+ years in heavy industry (mining/mineral processing preferred) and 2+ years of supervision, with strong communication

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical major preferred.
5+ years heavy industry experience; mining/mineral processing preferred.
2+ years front-line supervisory experience.
Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Direct safe mining, processing, and shipping activities with records.
Drive continuous improvement to reduce costs and increase productivity.
Coordinate subordinates to meet production and quality goals.
Recommend changes in standards, equipment, and processes to boost performance.
Assist Plant Manager with operations reports and variance comments.
Lead Chardon’s Annual Operational Excellence Meeting and OEM Plant Review calls.
Ensure safety, health, and environmental regulations are followed.
Oversee hiring of hourly employees.
